An overview of the teams visit to the European Stroke Organisation Conference 2026

PEER-HOMEcare at the ESOC 2026

This May, members of the PEER-HOMEcare project attended the 12th European Stroke Organisation Conference (ESOC 2026) in Maastricht, Netherlands - Europe’s leading conference for stroke research and clinical care. The conference brought together healthcare professionals, researchers, and rehabilitation specialists from across the world to share the latest advances in stroke prevention, treatment, and recovery.

We are proud that our project therapist, Ann Marie Hestetun-Mandrup, presented her abstract “Nordic and Baltic healthcare professionals’ perspectives on home-based stroke rehabilitation.” This highlighted important insights into how healthcare professionals across the Nordic and Baltic regions view home-based stroke rehabilitation and the opportunities and challenges involved in delivering rehabilitation in patients’ own homes.

Latvia). The team’s participation provided an excellent opportunity to connect with international colleagues, exchange knowledge, and bring back new ideas that can strengthen stroke rehabilitation services and collaborative research within the PEER-HOMEcare project.

“...it's important not to disturb someone's "nest".” - Ann Marie, Project Therapist

The strong focus on innovation and real-world implementation in stroke recovery and rehabilitation, made it a valuable arena for discussions around home-based rehabilitation approaches and patient-centred care.

Congratulations to the PEER-HOMEcare team for representing the project at this important international conference.
